The Third Annual Ocean Grove Beach Foundation Golf Outing at Jumping Brook CC featured a rousing finish as Bill Clay of Ocean Grove nailed a 20 foot putt on the final hole to win the OG Cup by 1 shot over three other teams. Clay’s scramble team consisted of Fred Bayles, Mike Kzirian, and Jim O’Neill. They finished a team best 9 under par on a Jumping Brook Country Club layout that was in outstanding condition. There were five teams within two shots of the winners.

The Foundation had its most successful fund raising effort to date as 103 golfers teed off, and a variety of sponsors shared in the day’s activity and success. There was great joy and fellowship throughout the course and at the lunch following play. “It was a great day for people who love the Ocean Grove Beach as the funds raised will go toward beach enhancements which all ocean lovers will share." said Dave Jenkins, Chairperson of the foundation.”

At the lunch, the Foundation gave a $1000 scholarship to Ocean Grove Lifeguard Gabriella DiLiberto. Gabriella is a student at Montclair State University. She has been a lifeguard for five years on the OG Beach. She is the third person to receive the scholarship which was established to assist Ocean Grove Lifeguards in attaining their college degree.
